The overall winner in the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim will rock out for the Wood River Valley with three free concerts.

Colla Voce will perform a mix of pop favorites and other songs at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 18-20, at the Sun Valley Opera House. Doors open at 6;30 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the door.

This year’s elite women’s singing group features 14 talented girls, said Music Director Max Stimac. They wlll be accompanied by R.L. Rowsey and Dorinda Rendahl on keyboards, Chip Booth on bass guitar and Stimac on drums and guitar.

The concert will also feature surprise special guests.

Colla Voce was awarded the Outstanding Festival Choir trophy and first place overall in the Worldstrides Heritage Music Festival Competition held recently in Anaheim, Calif.

The Wood River High School choir scored more points than any other choir in the competition and the group won a gold plaque and the Adjudicator Trophy for choirs scoring above 95 out of 100 points. The choir is choreographed by Jamie Stimac and Melody Taylor-Mauldin.

Nearly 1,900 student musicians from 64 performing ensembles throughout the western United States, including Alaska, competed at the festival.

Camas Filbet, one of Max Stimac’s choir students, recently placed seventh in the Mezzo Soprano division at the Idaho Music Educators Association State Solo and Small Ensemble Contest.
