She’s been called “Food’s Erin Brockovich” by the New York Times and Bloomberg.
And Robyn O’Brien’s book, “The Unhealthy Truth,” takes readers behind the scenes to show how the relationship between Big Food and Big Money has ensured that the United States is one of the only developed countries to allow hidden toxins in food.
Those toxins, she says, can be blamed for the increase in allergies, ADHD, cancer and asthma among children. Among the victims: her own daughter who had a violent allergic reaction to eggs one day—a reaction that sent her mother on her search for answers.
O’Brien will describe her journey and survey America’s food landscape today in a free talk at 6 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Ketchum’s Limelight Hotel.
Now the co-founder of rePlant Capital and Do Good strategic advisory firm , she advises multi-national food companies, non-profits and governments around the world.
She spoke at the 2019 Sun Valley Forum on transforming America’s food system from a traditional, extractive structure to a regenerative system that can be a part of the solution to climate and other challenges.
