Help sweep the valley clean when the Environmental Resource Center holds its 26th annual Clean Sweep campaign on Saturday.

The 2022 Clean Sweep—an effort to pick up the unsightly trash that settled on the valley floors during winter--will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7.

It’s a chance to spruce up the community before the onslaught of summer tourists.

Participants may register and pick up garbage bags and gloves at one of three locations and then head to the location of their choice. Complimentary breakfast snacks and hot drinks will be provided. A free lunch gift certificate will be given participants and all participants will be entered into a raffle with prizes.

The starting points are:

  • The ERC Office in Ketchum at 471 Washington Ave.
  • Hop Porter Park by the arch in Hailey at 126 Bullion Street
  • Memorial Park in Bellevue between Cedar and Elm streets.

Those who cannot take part Saturday morning may also register at the ERC office this week to pick up trash at another time.

Lindsay Mollineaux, executive director of the ERC, says she hopes people will dress in costume. Take pictures of the group, costumes and weird items found for a chance to win prizes. Just email the pictures to info@ercsv.org or tag the ERC on social media accounts with @ERCSunValley.

Teams will receive one point for each member, one point for each member who is in costume and one point for each full bag of trash picked up. The winning team will be announced and highlighted on the ERC’s website.

DID YOU KNOW?

Last year the ERC helped keep more than 60,000 pounds of material out of the landfill through reuse and recycle programs.
