The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation is seeking 200 volunteers to assist with the 2023 Toyota U.S. Alpine National Championships April 2-5 on Bald Mountain.

Volunteers are needed between March 31 and April 5 across a wide spectrum of positions, including manning an information booth and hospitality, assisting with the opening ceremony, collecting bibs after runs, providing wax room security, and serving as parking attendant and crowd control. Sign-ups are at https://svsef.org.

Those who volunteer will receive a voucher for a one-day Sun Valley lift ticket valid through December 30, 2024, for each shift they volunteer. Lunch will be provided during some shifts.

Qualified course crew volunteers will be vetted through the Course Crew Volunteer Request online form, which is also available at https://svsef.org.

“We are honored that our community has the opportunity to host another U.S. Alpine National Championships,” said Wally Rothgeb, chairman of the Organizing Committee for the races.  “Volunteers are the heartbeat of a successfully run event and we are grateful to everyone who can spare some time to lend a hand during event week. We have the best of the best traveling here to compete and we want everyone’s experience--racers and spectators alike--to be nothing less than extraordinary.”

About 150 of the top alpine skiers from across the United States are expected to compete in Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom in what is the final competition on the hotly contended U.S. national ski racing circuit for the season. Athletes must qualify to compete at alpine championships from the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s Western, Eastern and Rocky/Central Regions.

Those expected to compete including 2022 Olympic silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle and 2023 World Championships gold medalist River Radamus, both of whom competed at the 2018 Alpine National Championships in Sun Valley. Sun Valley athletes Ryder Sarchett, Jack Smith and Dasha Romanov will also be among those competing.

Apres ski events will include a free concert by Lowdown Brass Band
