Cox Communications is hosting an afternoon of free ice skating and skate rentals for Blaine County students and their families on Sunday. Or, was.
The second annual “Bringing Us Closer” Community Skate Day was to have been held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Campion Ice House in Hailey. But Cox representatives said Friday it's being postponed because of the COVID-19 situation. It will be rescheduled later.
Cox representatives were to have been on hand to talk with parents about Connect 2 Compete, a $9.95 internet service for qualifying families. And attendees will be entered into hourly raffle drawings for prizes, including an iPad and a Microsoft Surface Pro.
In addition, representatives with 5B Reads, a community literacy campaign, were to have provided books for students to take home. Members of Wood River High School’s WATER Club (We Appreciate the Earth’s Resources) were to have been on hand to discuss conservation and environmental initiatives.
And Spanish-speaking representatives from the local census initiative were to have shared information about the importance of participating in this year’s U.S. Census.
The event got its name from Cox Communication’s commitment to “bringing us closer” through products, services, technology and community involvement.
