The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Blaine County continued to climb Saturday.

Two more cases were identified bringing the total in the county to 21 a week after the first was identified.

At least one person was airlifted to a hospital in Twin Falls.

Statewide 42 cases have been confirmed, half of them in Blaine County. Ada County now has 11 cases, including employees with the VA Medical Center.

Southwest District Health and Central District Health authorities are working with the Middleton School District after a person who had been in the middle school on March 11 and 12 was confirmed with COVID-19. Staff, faculty and parents of children who had closest contact with the individual will be contacted.

Eight of Idaho’s 44 counties now have cases.

Authorities say 1,217 Idahoans have been tested, as the government announced a new test would be forthcoming that can provide results the day of testing.

As reported in Saturday’s Eye on Sun Valley, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare late Friday night released a Self-Isolation Order for Blaine County. The order is designed to curb the spread of coronavirus in the county.
