Blaine County Democrats are accepting applications for someone interested in serving as state representative during the 2022 legislative session.

The applicant must be a Democrat who lives and is registered to vote in Legislative District 26.

The person who is selected will replace State Rep. Muffy Davis, who was appointed this week to fill out  the remaining year of Jacob Greenberg’s term on the Blaine County Commission. Greenberg has announced his intention to retire as of Dec. 31, 2021.

Gov. Brad Little selected Davis to serve the term, which ends in January 2023. The other finalists were Fire Capt. Ron Taylor and Hailey City Council member Juan Martinez. Davis will have to win the Democrat primary for the seat in May 2022 if she wishes to continue on the commission past 2022.

Davis was in her second term as state representative for District 26 when she was tabbed for the commission. Little is expected to appoint a replacement before the legislature’s 2022 session starts in January. It typically runs through March and sometimes into April.

The person who assumes the seat will be expected to run for office as a Democrat in the May primary and, if they win, run in the November general election for a two-year term.

Davis had served two terms in the House.
