The Nelson family has been selected as the Grand Marshals for Hailey’s Days of the Old West Fourth of July parade.

The Nelsons will be honored in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Ray Nelson Invitational Tournament.

Hundreds of Little League baseball players from throughout Idaho have played in the tournament over the years. And, yes, more than a dozen members of the Nelson and Uhrig families have played in it, including some of Ray’s great-grandchildren.

“It’s an honor to our family and a testament to this community’s love of baseball that it’s gone on for so long,” said Matt Nelson, who is one of Ray’s grandsons and an alum of the tournament. “It’s really cool to see people come back for generations and play in the same tournament their dads or grandparents played in.”

The chamber is accepting applications for parade floats and collecting donations for the annual 4th of July fireworks show. Go to https://ValleyChamber.org  to learn more. Questions? Contact info@ValleyChamber.org or call 208-788-3484.
