The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office have charged William R. Butler for attempted murder following a shooting in Hailey’s Lion Park.

Police arrested Butler, a 72-year-old from Hailey Saturday afternoon and charged him with attempted murder of Michael A. Bosse of Hailey.

Bosse, 34, was shot in Lions Park shortly before 11:30 a.m. Friday. He was flown to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and later transferred to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Bosse worked for a while at Mountain Humane, playing Santa Paws in the animal shelter's Open House in December 2022.

An affidavit revealed that Butler shot Bosse in the head with a Ruger .22 pistol, reportedly because he was annoyed that Bosse sat in his car every time he and his wife walked dogs at Lions Park.
