Relive the days of yore when Renaissance Fever sweeps Carey.

The third annual Central Idaho Renaissance Fair will take place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9, at the Blaine County Fairgrounds and City Park in Carey.

This is the third year for the Central Idaho Renaissance Fair. Richaela Peck started it as part of her senior project at Carey High School and her parents Roger and Rebecca Peck have continued it as she goes off to BYU-Idaho.

The family traveled around to other renaissance fairs to get ideas and make contacts.

Archer Flynn-The Shanty Man is a very experienced Renn Fair performer who spent the spring and early summer performing English and Irish Folk Music at a large Renaissance Fair. Samantha Rose Owings, the Mistress of Melody is a very accomplished Celtic harpist who not only performs at various events but is adept talking to the audience about the history of playing harps in Renaissance times, said Rebecca Peck.

“David Belt teaches about medieval weaponry via tales and songs. We have an armed combat group, a court of mermaids from the Salt Lake Valley, an enchanted statue who comes to life when coins are placed in her fountain and unicorns. Vendors are coming from Minnesota to face paint and we’ll have a vendor of handcrafted blades who was a winner on the reality series ‘Forged in Fire.’ ” she added.

There also will be a Fingal Bonzi, a fire breathing sword swallowing comedy act; the Pyles Brothers Troubadours performing period music on period instruments, Starchaser aerial artistry, Sir Stefan and Traddlag the Semi-Dragon games and miniature mystical unicorns

Vendors will be on site, including Big John’s Barbeque, La Parrilla Food Truck, Squeezy Peezy Lemonade, Grandpa’s Treats, Eizabeth’s Sugary Treats and Dolce Cabana with bobo drinks, snow cones and ice cream.

There also will be numerous arts and crafts vendors selling costumes, leather armor, jewelry, belts, toys, metal art and blades, medieval and fantasy weapons, felted items, Viking sheepskins, spindles, runes, jeweled daggers products, etched glass ware, books, handmade stick horses, wildcrafted herbs, drinking horns, whimsical creatures, ceramics, fantasy prints, dragons, nerd gear, wreaths, crystals, wands and custom shields.
