The future of skiing—or, more accurately, the here and now of U.S. skiing—shone on the slopes of Sun Valley Monday as 17-year-old AJ Hurt screamed through the Women’s Giant Slalom, her mouth open all the way, to claim her third medal during the 2018 U.S. Alpine Championships.

“It seems like I was just looking up to all these other skiers, and now here I am,” said Hurt.

The race, which featured a tie for second between Croatian Olympian Andrea Komsic and Dartmouth’s Foreste Peterson, capped a week in which Sun Valley’s race department crew trudged to the mountain in the dark and 250 volunteers did everything from helping to rake the course to manning the parking lot.

Here is one last look at the excitement of the week, courtesy of Plummer Production and Sun Valley Resort.
