The Hailey Public Library will celebrate its 100th anniversary today with a big birthday bash from 4 to 8 p.m. tonight.
For the record, it opened Feb. 19, 1919, although the local assayer
is said to have started the first lending library 15 years earlier in
1904.
Eye on Sun Valley’s Karen Bossick sits down with Library Director
LeAnn Gelskey for a charming look at the ladies in their big hats who
started the library all those years ago. She takes us right through
today—a time when the library even lends out garden tools.
