The sound of guitarrons and other instruments recently filled the air at Roberta McKercher Park in Hailey. Performers wore the short jackets popularized by rodeo riders, lined with shiny buttons and topped with a huge bow ties.
Eye on Sun Valley’s Karen Bossick takes you there as dozens dance the folk dances of Mexico, which has provided Idaho sheep ranchers with herders through the years.
But don’t stop with watching the video. Head down to Roberta McKercher Park today to take in the folk dances and music of other groups—the Scottish, Peruvians and Basques—from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sheep Folklife Fair. The fair, part of the 23rd annual Trailing of the Sheep Festival, will feature wool and other products from 80 vendors, as well as a chance to watch sheep shearing demonstrations and learn about the life of a border collie.
