Casting Clay for a Cause

Leslie Silva made a bowl in the shape of a heart. Terri LeFaivre colored her bowl in her 8-year-old granddaughter Elsie’s favorite color.

And they and other members of the Wood River Women’s Foundation had a blast creating soup bowls that will be used at The Hunger Coalition’s Empty Bowls luncheon on Jan. 19.

Few of the women had any experience creating and painting pottery. But Mary Ann Chubb showed them how to create nifty designs with plastic glassware and knives and rubber tools that resembled things like shoehorns. And a bottle of Butter wine and snacks only added to the merriment.

Eye on Sun Valley’s Karen Bossick takes you to pottery playground at Boulder Mountain Clayworks. And,  if the muse strikes, call 208-726-4484 to find out how you and your friends can take part in a bowl making party.
