Sun Valley Resort Offers Reason to be Grateful on Thanksgiving Day

Saturday, November 28, 2020

Thanksgiving was a day for gratitude—gratitude that Sun Valley Resort’s chairlifts were back in action after coming to an abrupt stop 254 days earlier as the coronavirus pandemic swept across America.

The early morning sunlight streaming over River Run Lodge as the first skiers boarded the chairlift evidenced hope of better times, even as the opportunity to get out and enjoy the fresh mountain air on Sun Valley’s vaunted playground lifted the spirits of skiers and boarders alike. And the resort even heaped a few more runs on the Thanksgiving Weekend plate on Saturday, with the opening of Ridge, Blue Grouse, Upper Holiday and Christmas Bowl.

Hear from those who braved the cold to be first in line, as well as Sun Valley’s food and beverage director and others in today’s video celebrating the launch of Sun Valley’s 85th winter season.
