Honoring Cesar Chavez

Friday, March 26, 2021

Twenty-eight years ago, Herbert Romero joined 40,000 others as they passed by the open casket of Cesar Chavez, honoring the legacy of a Latino American civil rights activist who posthumously became a folk saint among Mexican Americans.

Since, Romero has looked to Chavez for inspiration as he crusades for better conditions for Latino Americans and others in the Wood River Valley. And this week he organized a march and other events to honor Chavez’s work and acquaint young valley residents with the man who fought for better working conditions for the nation’s many field workers.

Check out some of the action in today’s Eye on Sun Valley video.
