Meet the Bitterroot and Other Local Wildflowers

Thursday, June 3, 2021

The bitterroot, which forages an existence in hot dry rocky soil, is one of the loveliest of wildflowers, despite its foreboding name. They were considered a delicacy by the Shoshone ad other Native Americans who ate its roots seasoned with salt or sugar.

Learn more about this low-growing flower, the showy penstemon, goosefoot violet and other local wildflowers as Eye on Sun Valley’s Karen Bossick and Kristin Fletcher, president of the local chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society, take you on a video wildflower walk.
