The Native Plant Arboretum, tucked away off the Wood River Trail bike path at Fox Acres Road, may be one of the Wood River Valley’s best kept secrets. It contains a treasure trove of Idaho trees identified with an array of new interpretive signs, some bearing the Shoshoni names.
Join Eye on Sun Valley’s Karen Bossick as she walks the path with longtime arborist Linda Ries to learn about such species as the syringa—Idaho’s state flower, which can be easily identified by its “mock orange” scent. Then, join in the fun today from 10 a.m. to noon as the Arboretum celebrates Idaho Founder’s Day with huckleberry treats, a visit from the Lorax and Idaho state horse and more.
