BY MICHAEL DAVID

The Sun Valley Suns Hockey Club hosted a brand new team from California this past Friday and Saturday in Hailey. The hosts proved to be less than gracious as they beat the Santa Rosa Growlers 3-2 on Friday and finished them off 13-2 on Saturday.

In a penalty-riddled contest on Friday the Suns scraped by to take the 3-2 victory. Goals were tallied by Max Tardy, Darrell Hay and Brian Doe.

Saturday was a different story as the Suns jumped on the Growlers early and often. The home team scored the first seven goals of the contest and ended up cruising to the victory. Steve McCall tallied four goals for the Suns to lead the way.

Once again, The Campion Ice House was filled to its limited capacity and the raucous crowds helped carry the team to the victories.

The Suns square off against the Wilmington Wheels next weekend in Hailey. The puck drops at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 and Saturday, Jan. 15.
