Less than a week into the 2022-23 winter ski season, Sun Valley Resort is opening the Warm Springs side of Bald Mountain.
The resort will open Warm Springs on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in what is one of the earliest openings for that side of the mountain if not the earliest.
“We’re keeping the season stoke level high,” said Jenna Vagias, brand and communications manager for the resort.
Among those who is excited is Spencer Cordovano. "Winter for me doesn't start until Warm Springs opens," he said.
Sun Valley Resort opened to rave reviews on Thanksgiving Day as a combination of natural snow and manmade snow enabled it to open 28 runs, including such off-piste runs as Upper River Run, Rock Garden, Exhibition, Christmas Ridge, Upper Can Can and Upper French Dip.
Dollar Mountain is well covered but, so far, the resort is sticking to its original plan of opening it on Dec. 9.
Sun Valley Nordic Center has opened nearly 20 kilometers of Nordic and snowshoe trails on Thanksgiving Day. The trails are well covered and the grooming seems to be better than ever, thanks to a new grooming machine.
