A park bench honoring longtime Sun Valley resident Jim Grossman has been unveiled in Boise.
The Dry Creek Historical Society unveiled the Jim Grossman Memorial Bench on the opening day of the Schick-Ostolasa Historic Farmstead. The farmstead sits in Hidden Springs located on the edge of the Boise foothills near Eagle.
Grossman was the developer behind Hidden Springs, which at one time was envisioned as a community into itself.
“Jim Grossman had a vision to create a sustainable community with trails, abundant open space, a working farm and a historic farmstead,” said Cyndi Elliot, president of the DCHS. “Jim was also a nice family guy who lived in the neighborhood he was building and who listened to and cared about his neighbors. We are sad to have lost him so soon. He had many more goals and challenges to conquer.”
Grossman died in a kayaking accident on the South Fork of the Salmon River a year ago. He was active in the Sun Valley community, even bringing the Worldwide Special Olympics to Sun Valley and Boise more than a decade ago.
