Saddle up your trike and make your way to the Bike Safety Rodeo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today—Saturday, May 27, at the YMCA parking lot in Ketchum.
Representatives from the Ketchum Police Department and Higher Ground Sun Valley will set up a number of fun stations for kids to test their bicycle prowess.
They’ll offer safety inspections and riding tests. And they will give away children’s helmets.
If you can’t make it to the rodeo, stop a police officer on the streets or stop by your local police station to request a free helmet. Police officers carry children’s helmets in patrol cars to give to children they see pedaling without head gear.
Come next week, Ketchum police officers will hold their annual Ketchum Police Field Day from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, June 2, at Hemingway Elementary School.
The police will give youngsters a chance to inspect their vehicles, safety vests and other equipment. And they will offer some demonstrations showing how they respond to different situations.
