Ochi Gallery will hold a reception for its new featured artist—Zio Ziegler—from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the gallery at 119 Lewis St. in Ketchum.
The exhibition, “Meta Species,” will be up through Sept. 9.
Ziegler, who inspired a young artist who showcased his art at Leadville Espresso House recently, thinks of his works as Megaliths. That is, monuments in this particular time in visual and technological culture.
His chaotic masses are colorful, pulsating with energy. And they encourage the brain’s hardwired instinct to search for familiar patterns where there are none.
This particular body of work zeroes in on the figure with arms and legs revolving around the edges of compositions.
