“Hooray for Hollywood” will be the theme of this year’s Caritas Chorale benefit on Sunday, Sept. 10.
The public is invited to join Chorale members for a festive night at the movies with Oscar-worthy food beneath the big tent at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden a few miles south of Ketchum. Hollywood attire is encouraged.
Cocktails, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served starting at 4:30 p.m. And the chorale will serve up songs made famous on the silver screen through the decades.
There also will be the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for a number of star-studded prizes, including a Challenger ski pass good for Bald Mountain and Snowbasin from Sun Valley Resort, a week for two at a Maui condominium, a week at a beachside Mayan Palace Resort in Mexico, a round of golf for winner and three friends at the Valley Club and a 65-by-65-inch hand-pieced queen-sized quilt created by singer Margie Gould.
Raffle tickets are $25 each or five for $100 and may be purchased at Atkinsons’ Market or from singers prior to and during the dinner.
The drawing will be held during the dinner but the winning ticket holder need not be present.
Proceeds from the gala evening help support free concerts given by Caritas Chorale throughout the year.
Tickets are $150, and must be purchased by Aug. 30. Information: Ruth Jones at 208-622-2704 or ruthiejgsv@gmail.com.
The nonprofit Caritas Chorale is dedicated to promoting musical education and appreciation by offering singers a place to sing and audiences an opportunity to hear a variety of music ranging from John Rutter’s “Requiem” to music by Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein.
The choir, which sometimes features high school students as well as adults, is under the direction of R.L. Rowsey.
