Molly Sweeney has been blind since infancy but has carved out a fulfilling life rich with friendships.
That is, until two men come into her life who threaten to destroy it.
One is her husband Frank, who is convinced she can only be complete if her vision is restored. And the other is a doctor, a once-renowned eye surgeon who sees Molly as an opportunity to restore his career.
Sun Valley Performing Arts, formerly the nexStage Theatre play reading series, will present a free reading of “Molly Sweeney” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Ketchum’s Community Library.
The play, by Brian Friel, debuted in Dublin and opened in America in 1996 in an off-Broadway production. It won the Lucille Lortel Award for outstanding Play of the 1996 season.
The reading, directed by Jon Kane, will feature Scott Creighton, David Janeski and Aly Wepplo. They will tell Molly Sweeney’s story through monologues.
