The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation is hosting its fourth annual Golf for Gold tournament at Bigwood Golf Course on Sept. 14.
Teams of four will compete in a nine-hole scramble-style format. The tournament will begin at 3:30 p.m. with check-in at Bigwood at 2:30 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, as well as to individual players for Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive. Members of the winning team will have their names engraved on the perpetual Robert Harker Memorial Trophy.
Last year’s championship team was comprised of Marc Reinemann, Keith Reidy, Tom Van Hemelryck and John Iosonides with a low score of 27.
Golf for Gold was formerly known as the Robert Harker Memorial golf tournament, one of SVSEF’s original fundraisers that ran from 1971-1981.
The cost is $700 per team or $175 per person for golf and dinner. Dinner alone is $75. This year’s field is limited to 15 teams. Dinner will be provided by Bigwood Grill and served on their outdoor deck.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the SVSEF Cross Country Gold Team, comprised of nine elite athletes, including Kevin Bolger, Rogan Brown, Max Durtschi, Matt Gelso, Jack Hegman, Cole Morgan, Deedra Irwin, Kelsey Phinney and Mary Rose.
