If you saw the six-ton potato replica during last weekend’s Wagon Days celebration, consider yourself lucky.
Idaho Potato Commission officials have announced that they plan to replace the potato with a new one that they are paring down in size.
The new one will be lighter and leaner and it will glow in the dark. The new model will be two feet narrower, which will enable the truck to operate without wide-load restrictions. It will remain 27 feet long, however.
The Great Idaho Potato Truck has hauled the six-ton Russet Burbank potato replica to 7,200 cities over the past six years.
It even found its way to the Sun Valley Film Festival in March 2016.
