No need to pump iron today. It’s stein hoisting weekend.
Stein studs can feel the burn as they hoist those beer pints during the annual Oktoberfest today and Saturday, Sept. 15-16, at Ketchum Town Square.
The event includes a free photo booth, beer garden games, such as Hammerschlagen, beer pong, cornhole, giant jenga and chicken bingo, along with hourly masskrugstemmen contests, also known as stein hoisting.
There will be a small Oktoberfest market, as well.
The beer garden will open at 4 p.m. today and run to 10 p.m. today, with a tapping of the firkin, or keg, by Ketchum Mayor Nina Jonas. Secuestrado will provide live music beginning at 5 p.m.
The beer garden is open from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16.
The Beer Olympics will start at 3 p.m. Teams of four are invited to compete for Das Boot by competing in corn hole, beer pong, stein hoisting and the good ol’ volume chug. Cost is $40 per team and includes pint glasses and beer. Sign up at the event.
Army of Pines will bring the music at 1 p.m.; Idaho Vacation, at 3 p.m. and Lounge on Fire, at 5 p.m.
Attendees can choose from a variety of steins that they can bring back every year. There’ll be an Oktoberfest on tap, as well as Cold Springs Pilsner, Phantom Hill Swarzbier, Long Drop Semi-Dry Cider, Draft Root Beer and more.
Bavarian solft pretzels with warm beer cheese, Kobe Beef Hot dog and Last Chair Stout Bratwurst will be among the edibles.
