Enjoy a little music with your coffee—or your grocery pickups today.
The Yale Whiffenpoofs are offering their annual Coffee Tour today—Thursday, Oct. 19—in Hailey and Ketchum.
And they’ll kick it off with an extra special performance at 8 a.m. at the Community Campus in Hailey. There they will be joined by three Wood River High School and Sun Valley Summer Symphony groups: the B-Tones men’s singing group and Colla Voce and Enchante women’s groups.
The Whiffenpoofs and B-Tones will join together in a collaborative rendition of “God Bless America,” followed by a featured set by each group.
The final number of the performance will be presented as a tribute to local Whiffenpoof Mom and longtime Coffee Tour coordinator Marty Orwig, who died earlier this week after a year-long fight against brain cancer.
From there the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group will continue their Coffee Tour on their own. They’ll perform at:
8:45 a.m. at Java, 111 N. 1st Ave., Hailey
9:15 a.m. at Albertson’s on Main Street Hailey
10 a.m. at Perry’s, 131 4th St. W., in Ketchum
And 10:30 a.m. at Atkinsons’ Market in Ketchum
The collaborative performance is put on by the Sun Valley Jazz and Music Festival, which began a five-day run Wednesday in Sun Valley, in collaboration with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony’s music education program and the Wood River High School Choral Department.
