The public is invited to weigh in on two management plans involving the Boulder-White Clouds Wilderness and the Salmon-Challis National Forest on Monday and Tuesday.
The Salmon-Challis National Forest, Sawtooth National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management are providing an opportunity for the public to review and comment on refined wilderness management plans and environmental analysis associated with the Hemingway-Boulders, White Clouds and Jim McClure--Jerry Peak wilderness areas from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the American Legion Hall in Ketchum.
The American Legion is located at 220 Cottonwood St.
The proposed action identifies conditions and opportunities agencies can take to preserve wilderness characteristics.
The proposed plan for the Hemingway-Boulders/White Clouds is available for review at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=49647.
You can see the proposed plan for Jim McClure-Jerry Peak wilderness area at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=50223 .
This will be the final opportunity for the public to provide imput on the plans before they are finalized and enacted.
Representatives of the Salmon-Challis National Forest will unveil their plan for managing the forest for the next 10 to 20 years at a meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Ketchum’s Community Library.
The Forest just released a draft report called a “needs for change” assessment.
This is a critical juncture in the Forest Plan Revision process, as Forest Service officials seek validation that they are focusing on what the public cares about. Once finalized, the plan becomes the framework for managing the Forest, which includes Wild Horse Canyon and Copper Basin atop Trail Creek Summit.
