The Wood River Orchestra aims to pump up the Christmas spirit Saturday night with a free concert of holiday favorites.
The concert, designed for all ages, takes place at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum.
The orchestra will perform medleys of familiar Christmas carols arranged by Vaughan Williams, as well as contemporary selections, such as “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “The Nutcracker.”
“Our musicians are always eager to get their hands on the music leading up to our annual holiday concert,” said Brad Hershey, the orchestra’s conductor. “For many, this is their favorite concert of the year. We always include musician and fan favorites and aim to offer something for everyone with music from nostalgic to new. If you’re not already feeling the holiday spirit by Saturday, this concert ought to do it.”
Now in its 11th season, the orchestra was founded to offer area residents opportunities to perform and enjoy orchestral music. It is comprised of more than 30 musicians ranging in abilities and age from high school on up.
