BY SABINA DANA PLASSE

The Magic Lantern Cinemas will hold an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nomination screening for Lionsgate Films’ movie “Wonder” starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m.

There is limited seating for the public. Academy members will be given priority.

“There are Academy members who come to Sun Valley for the holidays who would enjoy watching this film at the Magic Lantern,” said “Wonder” Director of Photography Don Burgess. “I think all films should be judged in a theater on the big screen not at home on the television. The film was adapted to a screenplay from a book of the same title. It’s a wonderful book and a beautiful screenplay.”

After reading the script and meeting with the director Stephen Chbosky, and having worked with Producers David Hoberman and Todd Liberman, Burgess said he knew he had to shoot this film.

“Everyone who worked on the film did it for the right reasons, and I believe it shows up on the screen,” he said.

Based on the New York Times bestseller, “Wonder” tells the story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates and the larger community all struggle to discover their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

“It was a pleasure to make,” Burgess said. “The screenplay has already received a critic’s nomination for best adaptive screenplay. There has been a very good response to the film, and it has done well at the box office.”
