The Sun Valley Film Festival is adding another exciting event to its roster as it approaches its 7th annual festival in March 2018.
The event--a special SVFF Academy Screening on Dec. 28 at the Sun Valley Opera House featuring the recently released and acclaimed film, “The Florida Project.”
Sun Valley, a favorite getaway for generations of industry titans, is a fitting location to showcase the best the forthcoming award season's film contenders and SVFF hopes this will be the first of a regular series during each holiday season.
The Florida Project’s writer, director and SVFF Alumni Sean Baker will join for a Q&A immediately following the film screening. In 2013, Baker was honored with one of SVFF's top awards by Jodie Foster for his indie film, "Starlet."
His new film offers a deeply moving and unforgettably poignant look at childhood. It gives voice to a community rarely seen on screen and is a spellbinding and transformative portrait of contemporary lives lived in the margins that are otherwise too easily forgotten. One of the stars of the film, Willem Dafoe, has been nominated for a Best Actor Golden Globe for his performance.
"We are thrilled to launch this exciting new event for Festival Patrons and supporters. Our goal is to share in the award season excitement by shining a spotlight on the best in film and raising awareness for the Sun Valley Film Festival March 14-18, 2018," said SVFF Director Candice Pate.
The SVFF Academy Screening is by invitation only for Festival Patrons and supporters. To become a Sun Valley Film Festival Patron, visit www.sunvalleyfilmfestival.org.
