Sun Valley Ballet is ringing in the New Year with a fun group workout combining pilates, ballet and barre.
The class taught by Deb Murphy, is designed to strengthen muscles, boost weight loss and increase energy. No experience is needed.
It will be held at 6 p.m. Mondays, starting Jan. 8, at the ballet school’s Hailey studio at 111 N. 1st St., in the Meriwether Building. Cost is $50 for six classes or $10 a class for drop-ins. For information, call 208-806-1441 or Deborah Murphy at 208-720-5775.
On Jan. 3 and 4 Sun Valley Ballet is offering January Master Classes for ages 3 and up.
The classes will feature guest artists Sarah North Powell and Nathan Powell.
Sarah Powell, the ballet, creative movement and ensemble director for Ballet Idaho for five years, performed for five years with Peninsula Youth Ballet. She was both a performer and an instructor at the Anaheim Ballet School.
Nathan Powell, who has been with Ballet Idaho for seven years, is from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he started his professional training at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. He was a member of Festival Dance at the Banff Centre and a performer with Northern Plains Ballet before joining Festival Ballet Providence for three seasons. He also spent several summers with Ballet Montana and danced with Ballet San Antonio.
