Does it Make a Sound?
That’s the name of a group exhibition that will open Sunday, Dec. 31, at Ochi Gallery, 119 Lewis St., in Ketchum.
The group exhibition features works exploring the subject of landscape by artists living and working in Los Angeles.
And Lara Salmon will do a live performance titled “Running Out of Time” during the opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m.
It’s billed as “a performance for the ageless,” with Salmon, who “matures to sweet delicious” begins to over-ripen” over the course of time.
All alit by little blazes of white light.
The exhibition features the work of Matthew F. Fisher, Daniel Gibson, Rives Granade, Elizabeth Huey, Elisa Johns, Anna Elise Johnson, Lauren Spencer King, Thomas Linder, Lydia Maria Pfeffer, Lilian Martinez, Daniel McKee, Hilary Pecis, Caris Reid, Rob Reynolds, Maja Ruznic, Zach Storm, Nick Wilkinson, Brian Wills, Andy Woll and Lindsay Preston Zappas.
Additionally, the Project Room will feature an exhibition titled “As Concrete as Possible.”
It features examples of three concrete forms of art in Los Angeles today: Drawing, painting and sculpture. It includes collaged ornaments using found objects in Jason Bailer Losh’s sculptures.
Also, John Zane Zappas’ gestural hand-formed pots, which are influenced by the global cacti of California and speak to the endurance influence of the Craft and Folk Arts movement. And Brian Robertson’s paintings, which feature ceramic abstraction influenced by the desert landscape of his home state of New Mexico.
