You know Ann Christensen is beaming, thanks to the fresh snow that fell in the Sun Valley area this week.
After all, fresh snow means a fresh chance to see animal tracks.
Christensen, who has studied tracking under famous tracker James Halfpenny, will lead a Winter Tracking Workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, for the Environmental Resource Center.
Participants will meet at the ERC office at 471 Washington Ave. in Ketchum where Christensen will discuss local winter animals their life histories and the ways they adapt to winter. She will then describe the basics of animal tracking before taking participants on a snowshoe tracking adventure through the fields and woods north of Ketchum.
Novice and experienced trackers of all ages are welcome to participate.
Christensen will hold another winter tracking workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10.
Participants are encouraged to bring snowshoes, warm clothes and water. There is a suggested donation of $10 for ERC members and $20 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is encouraged at 208-726-4333 or alisa@ercsv.org.
