Leaders of the Ketchum Innovation Center hope to announce in a week where the third chapter of KIC will take place.
Supporters have been looking to make a move ever since the owner of the building began talking about selling KIC’s current home—the old Ketchum Post Office at 311 First Avenue N.
The move to a smaller space will not jeopardize KIC’s programs, said Kathryn Kemp Guylay, KIC’s CEO and executive director.
“The Ketchum Innovation Center remains on solid footing and we are very excited for what 2018 looks like for KIC,” she said. “KIC’s leadership team and board of directors remain deeply committed to building an innovative and supportive business ecosystem for the local entrepreneurial economy. KIC will continue to focus on delivering exceptional educational programming, mentorship and networking resources.”
Founded in 2014, KIC initially provided office space for young startups in a building near Bigwood Bakery. In its current location in Ketchum’s core, KIC has been able to offer events during events like Gallery Walk.
Guylay recently started a series of programming for entrepreneurial women, and she and Annie Pokorny paired recently to offer what they said was the first of events designed for Sun Valley Millennials.
In recent months, several co-working spaces have opened up filling the market need for young entrepreneurs.
Guylay said the exit from the 311 First Ave. North building will result in significant savings, which will allow KIC to invest in its core initiatives, such as educational programming and mentorship.
“The KIC is not going away. We are here to stay and are thrilled with the prospect of focusing on our mission to provide education, mentorship, capital solutions and community building,” she said.
