Learn about Nativars—The New Native Plants during a workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden.
Steve Love, a University of Idaho scientist, will discuss the development of specially selected native plants called nativars, which enhance usefulness in home landscapes.
Steve Paulsen, of Native Roots, LLC, will talk about the availability and uses of nativars and commercial production.
Kyle Timm, of K & L Design in Salt Lake City, will discuss Nativar design considerations, including a new 3D design software.
Kelley Weston, Native Landscapes, will talk about appropriate maintenance and irrigation techniques.
And Patti Lousen of the Wood River Land Trust, will address the status of water in Idaho and the Wood River Valley.
The workshop is the third in a six-part series called Resilient Landscapes for Resilient Communities hosted by SBG, Wood River Land Trust and the cities of Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum and Sun Valley.
