Wood River High School and Middle School thespians are dipping into the classics to present the Civil War-era story of “Little Women.”

Forty student actors and crew members will present Louisa May Alcott’s beloved 1868 story of the March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy—Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 28-March 3.

The play will be presented at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater at the Community Campus in Hailey.

Show times are 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, veterans and high school students, $3 for Middle School students and $1 for children.

“Little Women,” loosely based on the lives of the author and her three sisters, details the passage of four sisters from childhood to womanhood.

The story follows the girls and their mother as they face their first Christmas without father, who is miles away ministering to those fighting in the Civil War. It chronicles the near-death of one of the girls due to scarlet fever. And it follows their romances with the boys of the neighborhood.

Wood River High School Drama Teacher Karl Nordstrom is directing the play with Middle School drama teacher Christine Leslie. This particular production was adapted by Thomas Hischak.

The cast features Annabelle Lewis, Taylor Telford, Jessi Timmons, Will Pullin, Koii Lauritsen, Ramsey Marquis,  Sean Sheehan,  Maddie Biggers, Beckler Thomas, Titia Groenhof, Anyela de la Cruz,  Hunter Ervin, Guadalupe Frias, Alexandria Schrader, Gracann Gibson,  Elena Tamayo,  Lilya Armstrong, Vera Lucia-Gonzales Fernandez, Quydion Schiers, Dionese Guerra-Carrillo, Madi Fortner, Skyler Yuengling, Viri Lemus, Sarah Feltman, Kaylee Kolman and Jaiman Sharp.

Behind the scenes is Assistant Director and Stage Manager Rhett Jones and Alex Rogers; Light designer and choreographer Hilarie Neely; costume designers Cathy Reinheimer, Hilary Biggers, Angie Telford and Winky McCray and technicians Max Gardenswartz and Gabe Delgad.
