Learn how man has caused the decline of wild salmon and steelhead and meet those fighting for a wild fish future in the Pacific Northwest via a documentary film being shown Thursday, March 15.
“Our Two Hands” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Ketchum’s Limelight Hotel.
The presentation is being made possible by Bloodknots, Idaho Rivers United and Sun Valley Outfitters. Tickets are $10 and are available at Silver Creek Outfitters and Lost River Outfitters, as well as www.IdahoRivers.org.
The documentary recounts its belief that the current management paradigm involving salmon and steelhead has failed and the status quo solutions for restoring impoverished wild populations have proven ineffective.
The film examines the underlying causes of the decline, including dams, tainted gene pools, hatcheries, overharvest, bi-catch and habitat destruction, which interfere with the fishes’ arduous migration to and from the ocean. It also offers innovative ideas designed to turn things around.
There will be an opportunity to meet the filmmakers and hear about Idaho River United’s fish restoration projects in a question and answer following the film.
