The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch in effect through late Wednesday night.
A mix of rain and snow coupled with snow melt could cause problems for much of the Big and Little Wood River region, including the cities of Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue.
Already, Bellevue is experiencing major flooding from Slaughterhouse Canyon, reports the Blaine County Sheriff’s office. Motorists are being asked to stay away from Parkside Drive and the area around Sunrise Ranch Road and Muldoon Canyon Road, as city crews are in the area with heavy equipment.
As of 1 p.m. Bald Mountain had picked up four inches of new snow following a half-hour of heavy rain. But the snow has stopped for now.
Motorists are also reminded to expect icy roads Thursday morning.
