It looks like the perfect storm—make that sunshine—is coming together to close out Sun Valley’s 2017-18 winter season this weekend.
Bald Mountain has boasted some great skiing to close out the final week, and Sun Valley Resort has aided and abetted it by keeping the Lookout Express running so skiers can access Canyon, Mid-River Run and Roundhouse Slope early in the morning while the Warm Springs side is softening up.
And touring has been allowed in The Bowls, when conditions permit.
The whipped cream on the mountain top? Four inches of new snow overnight on Thursday.
Life During Wartime from Portland, Ore., will offer a Talking Heads tribute from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, on the Warm Springs Plaza.
And the Emily Stanton Band featuring its title singer from Boise will close out the season on Warm Springs Plaza from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, with Stanton, a native of Boise, serving up soul and rhythm and blues.
There’ll be food and drink specials, and last-day revelers are encouraged to wear costumes.
Jim Keating says the Blaine County Recreation District hopes to keep grooming Nordic trails north of Ketchum through April 29, snow quality permitting. The last few grooms will probably be relegated to Prairie Creek and Galena, he added.
