Do you have an idea worth spreading?

The application process is now open for the 3rd annual TEDxSunValley, happening on Sept. 29, 2018. This independently organized event, licensed by TED, will feature local voices as well as TED Talk videos under this year’s theme: “Changing the Current.”

The TEDxSunValley committee, which is made up of local volunteers, is looking for a diversity of perspectives that explore this year’s theme. That includes inspiring stories about life events that have intensified the velocity or path of the human experience and that can or have transcended the natural currents and flows across the planet by invoking a response or reaction.

“TEDxSunValley takes place in a very special mountain town with a unique energy and dynamic, and an accomplished population whose habitation ebbs and flows with the seasons,” says event co-organizer Kim Castellano. “A majority of our citizens could give a top notch TEDx talk. We are hoping that a number of these stellar individuals will apply to speak this year and share their ideas worth spreading. You don’t have to be THE expert,  just AN expert.

TEDxSunValley is an opportunity to share your passion, unleash ideas that inform and inspire and spark conversations that matter. Subject matter scan be influenced by technologies, art or passionate pursuits.

“This year we would love to feature a mix of locals as well as those from elsewhere—including those who visit or are part time here—to surface the ideas and perspectives from near and far that we need in such a rapidly changing world, says Aimee Christensen, TEDxSunValley founder and co-organizer with Castellano.

The theme this year of Changing the Current is meant to evoke an action orientation for our third TEDxSunValley, and we hope our 2018 speakers will benefit from being part of our special place and community, event as we learn from and are inspired by them.

Applications should be filled out online and submitted by June 2, 2018 on the TEDxSunValley website at: http://www.tedxsunvalley.com/speaker-application/

“Sun Valley's natural beauty and resources have long provided a gathering place for explorers, visitors, homesteaders, and innovators,” adds Christensen. “It is filled with incredibly inspiring, accomplished people with fresh ideas and deep expertise. TEDxSunValley is our chance to offer a high-quality platform for them to ensure their story is given the chance to shine and to be shared far beyond our community.”

TEDx programs started in 2009 as locally organized events to bring a community together to share a TED-like experience. Some of the best talks from the events have gone on to be featured on TED.com, garnering millions of views from audiences across the globe.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of powerful talks 18 minutes or shorter, delivered by leading thinkers and doers. Many of the talks are given at the annual TED conference in Vancouver, British Columbia and are made available on www.TED.com.

TED talkers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson and Monica Lewinsky.

In keeping with the spirit of the TED, no speaker will be compensated and no one on the organizing team will be making a profit.
