It’s not a Robert Trent Jones course. But the putt-putt course for the Ketchum Wide open is certainly one of the funnest around.
You may be asked to knock your ball down the chimney at the Sawtooth Club. Or, feed it through a goofy golf blueprint including lasers, strobe lights, fog and smoke machines like Whiskey Jacques did one year.
The 2018 Ketchum Wide Open takes place on Saturday, May 19. Registration starts at 11 a.m. at the Hole on Main next to Whiskey Jacques.
The tourney starts at noon. And golfers will have five hours to putt their way around 11 holes before the tourney concludes at 5 p.m. Awards will be handed out at 5:30 p.m.
The best seven holes will be counted and prizes will be given for the best hole, best costume, furthest traveled, youngest and oldest players. The golden putter will be awarded for golfer scoring the lowest on seven holes.
Each golfer can either avail themselves of a drink included in the tourney or donate the price of that drink to this year’s charity to lower their score by one.
You’ll find the creative holes at Smoky Mountain Pizzeria, Warfield Distillery and Brewery The Casino, Lefty’s Bar & Grill, Grumpy’s Sawtooth Brewery, The Cellar Pub, Whiskey Jacques, Hotel Ketchum, The Limelight Hotel and the Environmental Resource Center’s Hole on Main.
Cost is $30 per two-person team. The event raised about $2,000 for the ERC last year.
