Learn how to shoot the night sky with a camera or cell phone when the Sawtooth Botanical Garden presents the second of a four-part astronomy series.
Tim Frazier, president of the Magic Valley Astronomical Society, will present an hour lecture on using photography to memorialize the pageantry of the nighttime sky at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the garden.
Then participants will move outside at 8 p.m. to observe “Oh Wow!” deep sky objects as garden education director Kristin Fletcher shares lore about constellations visible with the naked eye.
Cost is $10 for garden members and $12 for nonmembers. Children under 16 will be admitted free. Preregistration is required at 208-726-9358.
This workshop will be followed with a family night under the Perseid meteor shower at Croy Canyon on Sunday, Aug. 12. Stargazers can learn about such outstanding winter constellations as the horse, the maiden and the queen on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
