Five Play, a new Latin jazz band in the valley, will make its debut at Jazz in the Park tonight.
The group will play bossa nova classics using sax, bass, drums and conga drums from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight—Sunday, July 15—at Ketchum’s Rotary Park across from the Wood River YMCA on Warm Springs Road.
- On Tuesday, Tatanka, a reggae band from Colorado, will perform at the free Ketch’em Alive concert.
The group layers its pop-influenced tracks with trippy, stoner dub and psychedelic sound effects, according to Kristy Stone.
Tatanka hit it big with their premiere self-titled album in 2014 and has continued to stoke the fire with singles like “Love is Medicine.”
“It’s been awhile since we had a reggae band, but they always have a positive message and are great for dancing,” said organizer Will Caldwell.
The music will play from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ketchum’s Forest Service Park at First and Washington streets. Picnics are welcome, and food and drink are for sale on Washington Street.
- On Thursday, Aaron Einhouse will perform at Mahoney’s Bar & Grille in Bellevue from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Einhouse, a true son of Texas, considers himself a storyteller/songwriter who likes foreshadowing and twists.
“If we all just did what our Mama said and learn from our mistakes, we’d all have better lives,” he says. “But maybe they wouldn’t be quite as interesting. People never learn.”
