Fire crews made significant progress on the northwest flank of the Sharps Fire Thursday night as they tried to keep it from heading toward Hailey and neighborhoods to the north.
Crews also made significant progress on the northeast flank, said Fire Information Officer Hutson Vann.
Fire crews are working to keep the fire from progressing in the Cove Creek area south of East Fork Road. And they hope to work in the Baugh and Fisher Creek drainages.
“We trying to hook it—put lines in with bulldozers—to push or guide the fire away from values at risk,” Vann said. “We’re using a combination of air attack and crews on the ground.”
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning, predicting heavy winds from noon to 10 p.m. today. Saturday is expected to bring similar weather conditions, Vann said.
