They did it!
100 Men Who Care hit their goal of 100 men with one to spare at their last meeting.
Men sat elbow to elbow as they met at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. And others who could not be there in person sent checks via snail mail.
In the end, after hearing about several good causes, the men pooled their individual $100 checks and presented a $10,100 check to Ketchum’s Community Library.
Executive Director Jenny Emery Davidson and the library’s Director of Philanthropy Carter Hedberg accepted the gift on behalf of the library’s ongoing renovation. The $12.5 million project, which includes infrastructure improvements at the Hemingway House, relies on donations and revenue from the Gold Mine Thrift Store since the library receives no tax dollars.
“When 100 Men Who Care was kicked off in February 2013 I had a lofty goal of bringing together 100 men, and more, to help local non-profits achieve their goals and mission by providing unsolicited gifts of $10,000 or more,” said co-founder Marty Lyon. “What a difference we are making! We have now given 23 gifts totaling $136,150. And at our last meeting we kicked off a sponsor program and gave a gift of $600 to KDPI Radio.”
The next quarterly meeting of 101 Men Who Care will be 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden.
P.S. Marty Lyon says he’s not restricting attendance to 100. Or, even 101. So come one, come all!
