The Ketchum Innovation Center is hosting two opportunities for entrepreneurs, business owners and wannabe business owners to network and learn from the mouths of experts in the coming week.
- The first is a free KIC-IT NETWORKING MIXER from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the center at 180 West Sixth St. in Ketchum.
The mixer is open to all—even those who just want to hang out.
Snacks and beverages will be provided, and there’ll be a chance for attendees to brainstorm business ideas and make connections.
- On Tuesday, Sept. 25, KIC is joining hands with the Idaho Small Business Development Center, Idaho National Laboratory and the Idaho Department of Commerce to hold the second annual SBIR ROAD TOUR. This one, focusing on “Funding Opportunities,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the KIC center.
The free workshop will offer ideas on how to get cash to start or further a business, from federal funding to cost-free business assistance. Experts will, for instance, teach how to access more than $2.5 billion dollars in early stage technology funding and nearly $1 million in commercialization grants to Idaho.
Speakers include Tom McCreery, vice president at Zeteo Tech.com; David McCauley, director of Technology Transfer at Idaho State University; Gary Moore, program manager or Idaho Procurement Technical Assistance Center; Kevin Tomlinson, library consultant with the Idaho Commission for Libraries; Jenny Emery Davidson, Community Library; Leann Gelskey, Hailey Public Library, and Bryan Matsuoka, regional director for the Idaho Small Business Development Center.
There also will be one-on-one coaching.
Lunch will be served at noon. Those with special dietary restrictions should contact Dave McEwen at davemcewen@boisestate.edu.
The $50 per person cost is being covered by donations from the Idaho Department of Commerce and Idaho National Laboratory.
