The Papoose Club is having an open house and social open for anyone interested in joining the club or learning more about the club.
The Papoose Club Social will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the Ketchum Innovation Center, 311 First Ave. N., in Ketchum. It’s a block north of the Ketchum Post Office.
Snacks and wine from the Ketchum Grill will be provided free of charge.
The Papoose Club was founded in 1954 by a group of local Moms and was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1975.
Club members raise funds through such events as the Papoose Club Annual Holiday Bazaar, the Wagon Days Pancake Breakfast and the Webb Nursery Plant Extravaganza. They then disperse those funds to local nonprofit organizations working with valley youth.
Past recipients include the Wood River High School Business Professionals of America, Sawtooth Botanical Garden’s Bug Zoo, The Hunger Coalition, St. Thomas Playhouse, Wood River High School Model United Nations and Rotarun Ski Area.
The Club also hosts the annual Kindercup Race, which has become a rite of passage for many valley youth.
